The YANGWANG U9 Xtreme achieved 496.22 km/h at Germany’s ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg track. Manufacturer YANGWANG identifies it as the fastest production car, while BYD says the record run took place on September 14, 2025.

The engineering scale is as striking as the number. Its four-motor electric powertrain produces more than 3,000 PS and uses a 1,200-volt architecture, with specialised cooling and chassis systems designed to sustain performance under exceptional load.

Top speed alone does not describe a road car, but the run demonstrates what tightly controlled electric motors can deliver when voltage, battery output, aerodynamics, tyres and thermal management are developed around one objective.

Production is limited to no more than 30 examples. That makes the U9 Xtreme less a mass-market proposition than a technology statement—and an unusual four-wheeled detour for Torqverse beyond its normal motorcycle coverage.
